Shocking and rude service by the man outside seating customers. Had just finished a run on a Saturday morning, my mate went inside to grab us a coffee, I sat down on a bench between two empty tables. The waiter who I presume is the owner comes over and asks if I need a table I let him know I’m just waiting for a mate and he says well if you aren’t eating get up and go around the front in the street and wait. The way he said it I thought he was joking so I laughed it off then told me again to get up and go to the street. Felt like I was being sent to the principals office at school. I sat for a second to figure out if I was being setup by someone because I still couldn’t believe how I was being spoken to. Then he went on to arrogantly tell me about some tv show he was on back in the day and then switch back and tell me to get up and move. Still no one waiting for these tables I was apparently stopping people from sitting at but I got up and said “I was just sitting till I got my takeaway my mates inside ordering” but he had no interest in listening and made me walk out on the street and stand and wait. Horrible and rude customer service, will never be back here for a coffee and I’ll be encouraged everyone I speak to to avoid this place also. Once I got my takeaway I sat on a bench just down the path and not a single person took any of the tables I was sitting next to. A lot of carry on for no reason.

Good food, good service and great scenery. Came here on a Sunday at 11am. I called 5 days before to make a booking for 8 ppl with potentially more and the person on the phone was really helpful and accommodating. I mentioned that the number might go up to 16 ppl and she said they have two large tables that can seat 10 each so no problem. When we arrived, I was happy that they seated us inside because the day ended up being colder than forecasted. Almost all tables outside were occupied, inside had few vacant tables. We had to park about 100m down which isn't a hassle because the walk is scenic. All of us enjoyed our meals, the burger, BLT sandwich, portobello with kale and butter chicken. Servings were generous. Coffee was alright. The caramel slice was good too but we had to return the first one because it was very dry. The staff was apologetic and happy to give us another slide. The toilet was outside and you need to get the key from the staff. When paying, we were allowed to split our bill, the cashier just ticked off what we had and we paid for it. There was a 20% discount if paying with cash and 5% surcharge for weekends. I'll definitely return here on a nice warm day but I'm sure it'll be packed!

Perhaps the worst cafe around, save for the view. Incredibly micro-aggressive staff, CALD folks should stay away. Shockingly rude and stressed team, which implies poor management. Will be asking my non-POC foodie friends if they receive the same treatment as I did here. The 2 stars i gave for atmosphere is for the view, and because they have a diverse workforce. Ridiculously bland food, coffee was fine. No warmth, no heart, no rhythm to service, no playfulness, no kindness. One of the worst cafe experiences I’ve had to endure in the world, let alone in Melbourne. Disgusting.

Great café in a bush setting on the Yarra opposite Herring Island. Feels a million miles away from Toorak and South Yarra, even though that's technically where it is. Food is super delicious, and I'm not sure why it doesn't have a higher average score. Some reviewers commented negatively on service, but service has been great whenever I've been there - one waitress even offered to let me double park behind her car in the carpark if no spaces available.
